Her international empire is built on a foundation of dance music and crazy costumes, and has grown to include movie roles, a perfume and its own social network. But now Lady Gaga, mother monster and meat dress auteur, has a new addition to her oeuvre – an official documentary film.

After months of speculation, Gaga has announced that she and photographer Terry Richardson are collaborating on a documentary, ensuring another whirlwind year for the 26-year-old performer.

She tweeted: "Merry Christmas little monsters! Terry Richardson @Terry_World is making a #LadyGagaMOVIE documenting my life, the creation of ARTPOP + you!"

Rumors about a possible documentary began circulating in the summer, but the Christmas Day tweet is the first confirmation of a film that focuses on the artist and her forthcoming album Artpop, set for a 2013 release.

Gaga's fourth record is one of the many additions to her ever-expanding multimedia empire. The album is expected to include a mobile and computer app, along with the physical and digital copies of the music. Her manager has promised that the app will include interactive games, video and interviews with the singer in attempt to further connect to her hordes of fans; fans that she refers to as "monsters".

Richardson first worked with Gaga when he took behind-the-scenes photos from her performances in 2010 and 2011 for a book published in November last year. "i love you @Terry_World thank you for believing in me and my fans, I have looked up to you and your work for so long, its a dream come true!", Gaga tweeted.

But Richardson gained notoriety long before that. He has taken photos of the world's biggest celebrities, including Barack Obama, but has also courted controversy for taking provocative photos and reportedly creating a sexualized atmosphere on set. His work has been called "pornography passed off as high fashion", and has been accused in the past of sexually exploiting models.

Richardson insists that the allegations are false. He continues to shoot for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and small but respected fashion magazines such as The Gentlewoman, for whom he shot a cover photo of Angela Lansbury.

His film will be the first documentary about Gaga, though a concert film shot during her the Madison Square Garden leg of her Monster Ball tour was nominated for five primetime Emmys.

Gaga is also following in the footsteps of Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. Bieber's 2011 Never Say Never combined a mixed critical reception with enormous commercial success. Perry's 3D film Part of Me was a commercial flop, and was perceived by many to be .

There is no release date for the Richardson documentary, but Gaga will be appearing on the big screen in 2013 anyway with her feature-film acting debut in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills. Gaga is also working on a jazz album with Tony Bennett.

Lady Gaga made a big announcement Tuesday: She's working with celeb photographer Terry Richardson on a documentary about herself and upcoming album, ARTPOP. Mother Monster tweeted on Christmas:  "I love you @Terry_World thank you for believing in me and my fans. I have looked up to you and your work for so long, its a dream come true!"
 
No word yet on when the album or documentary will be released, but Gaga revealed earlier that she's already written over 50 songs the record, which will also be released as an interactive app. However, we can already bet it will contain plenty of sexy footage, if their NSFW "Cake" video and the 450 pictures in their behind-the-scenes book, Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson, are any indication.

Lady Gaga's new perfume has proved popular in Britain after it was named the country's best-selling celebrity fragrance this Christmas. The "Poker Face" singer released The Fame this year and it has since been hailed Britain's most popular perfume in the celebrity scent market as sales rocketed in the run-up to the festive season.

The Fame has been named the U.K.'s best-selling celebrity scent by bosses of British chain The Fragrance Shop, clocking up 19 per cent of sales in the country's high street stores. New James Bond fragrance 007 came in second, ahead of Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy in third. Other perfumes in the top 10 include Madonna's Truth or Dare and Guilty Pleasure by pop group Steps.

Lady Gaga has helped make Christmas extra-special for Daniel Borowy, a 17-year-old special education student critically injured in August in a shooting at Perry Hall High School in Baltimore. A huge fan of the singer, Borowy came to Gaga’s attention thanks to the Lady Gaga Please Visit Daniel Facebook and Twitter campaigns started by his classmates and others.

Initially, Borowy’s friends hoped Gaga would pay a hospital visit but her schedule wouldn’t allow it.  However, this week, Borowy’s father Milton Borowy posted a message on Facebook that Gaga had sent his son a huge care package of “T shirts, CDs, a personally-autographed message to Danny, a picture and 2 tickets to her upcoming concert. ( I believe they are front row).”

Admitting that it was difficult to announce his son’s good news in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shootings, Milton added that he was “waiting for an appropriate time to share this information and [felt] that maybe we need some good news.” More good news: Borowy returned to school in November and is doing fine.

Milton Borowy said he’s thankful for everyone’s help in getting the word out to Gaga’s camp. “It is pretty cool that someone in [Lady Gaga's] position took the time to make a complete stranger happy,” he said.

Daniel Borowy was wounded in what police say was a random shooting by a classmate at Perry Hall High School. Borowy is a Lady Gaga fan and his supporters campaigned for her to contact him. Now, WMAR-TV reports that the boy's father, Milton Bowory, announced on Facebook that Lady Gaga has sent T-shirts, CDs, a photo, a message and two tickets to an upcoming concert.

Milton Borowy says the smile on Daniel's face when he received the gifts was "overwhelming."He says it's "pretty cool that she "took the time to make a complete stranger happy."

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has come under attack from animal rights activists after spending a fortune on a collection of fur coats while on a recent trip to Russia.

The 'Poker Face' hitmaker is said to have purchased a number of pricey garments from the Helen Yarmak store in Moscow last week, including a 131,250 pounds Russian sable coat and a silver fox fur valued at 12,250 pounds.

Her shopping spree has landed her in trouble with officials from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and they have blasted her for splurging on the controversial fashion choices during the festive holidays.

"Out of place, out of time, and possibly out of her mind: While the country focuses on rejecting violence and we are deep into the season of peace, giving, and kindness, Gaga is busy decking herself out in a coat made of at least 30 slaughtered animals' skins," said a spokeperson of PETA.

The 26-year-old singer has made an enemy of the PETA organisation in August also when the campaigners accused her for a pink mink coat and a white fox stole.

PETA said in a statement to GossipCop: "Out of place, out of time, and possibly out of her mind: While the country focuses on rejecting violence and we are deep into the season of peace, giving, and kindness, Gaga is busy decking herself out in a coat made of at least 30 slaughtered animals' skins."

At one time Gaga took a stand against wearing animal skin, stepping out in a jacket made from Kermit the Frog puppets, an ironic statement against the fur trade. However, she appears to have changed her stance, and recently said she would no longer comment on whether she wore fur or not.

It'll be a while yet before Lady Gaga unveils her next full-length studio album ARTPOP, but in the meantime fans can tide themselves over with her latest leak, a jazzy version of her single "Yoü and I" recorded with her pal and collaborator Brian Newman.

The song, which can be streamed below or downloaded here, showcases Gaga's gift for vocal improvisation. According to a tweet from Newman, this wasn't even the most exciting version they recorded together: "@ladygaga Do you remember the blindfolded take we did of that, babe?!! Hahaha!!! Lets do it again soon! Always a pleasure!! Love ya!"

Newman has known Lady Gaga a long while, as he bartended at one of her favorite haunts, St. Jerome's. Ardent Gaga fans know this is where she famously met and fell in love with the rumored inspiration for "Yoü and I," Luc Carl.

Sections of the media have gone ballistic over Priyanka Chopra's multiple nominations at the World Music Awards, which I doubt many in India even knew existed till six months ago. All the best to Piggy Chops, of course - may the Desi Girl do us proud.

Priyanka's debut single as a singer, 'In My City,' is running for Best Song, Best Video and Best Debut. A quick scan of the official WMA website was a startler, though. Vying for votes in the Best Song category are 82 nominees including Priyanka. Best Video has 57 contenders! Which means pret ty much anyone who cuts a single/album must be get ting nominated.

While hoopla has been drummed up over how it's Priyanka versus Lady Gaga at the WMA this year, you have the entire jingbang including Korean rapper Psy, Coldplay, Adele, Katy Perry, Madonna, Linkin Park, Robbie Williams, Pitbull, Enrique and Cristina Aguilera jostling for glory, plus several others you may have vaguely heard of.

One can't blame the WMA guys for the carpet bombing. At a time when the music industry is reeling under recession and piracy, rope 'em for the big night in bulk. Even if half the bunch turns up it would ensure good TV ratings.
